A Lebanese Beiruti leader of the independence generation, famous for his white carnations and cigars. He assumed the presidency of the Lebanese government for the first time during the era of Bechara El Khoury. Saeb Bey was one of the fiercest opponents of President Camille Chamoun and a supporter of Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser.
