The presidency reached him in 1952 on a silver platter when President Bechara al-Khoury invited him to succeed him, but at that time he rejected the temptations of the authority, and after the events of 1958 brought him the regional equation as president and he ruled by law and “what does the book say?” His tenure was characterized by administrative and judicial reforms and the establishment of oversight institutions, as well as the establishment of social justice and the promotion of equal opportunities.
